The Importer Security Filing (ISF), commonly known as “10+2,” is a U.S. Customs requirement that mandates importers to submit detailed cargo information before goods are loaded for shipment to the United States. This filing includes ten data elements provided by the importer, such as the manufacturer’s details, consignee information, and commodity codes, along with two elements from the carrier: the vessel stow plan and container status messages. The ISF must be submitted at least 24 hours before cargo loading, ensuring proper risk assessment and enhancing supply chain security. Non-compliance can lead to penalties, cargo delays, and increased inspections.
